Ailie has a huge belief in design thinking and the idea that everyone is a designer. Ailie feels creativity doesn’t mean being able to paint or draw, but simply being able to think outside the square; something we can all learn to do.
WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?
Student and Designer
IN 10 WORDS OR LESS, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT AT TEDxYouth@Frankston?
Why we are all designers
3 THINGS ABOUT ME THAT NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW?
1. I designed a bike off a chicken… it somehow won an international award
2. I’m scared of getting my hair cut. What an odd thing to be scared of! I’m not too sure why I have this fear, but am honestly less nervous before getting a tattoo than a haircut. Hence I’ve always had long hair, until recently I donated my 27cm to help make a wig for someone who has lost his or her hair due to cancer treatments.
3. I’ve always wanted pet hermit crabs, I think they’re fascinating, but need to wait until I live alone or with others that are ok with the idea of me having some little hermits with me. Not there yet!
WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT TALIKING AT TEDxYouth@Frankston?
I’m hugely excited to encourage people to see creativity in a new light. So many people say to me it’s so good to have a creative friend like you, I wish I was creative like you …My problem is that I don’t see why people do not feel they are creative. Just because I can draw, sew and paint doesn’t make me creative. Instead it is how I use those skills. Everyone has skills; everyone has potential to get creative with what they do.
